The conversion of our energy and heat supply systems and our transport infrastructure to climate-neutral technologies is crucial for the future of the German economy and society, as it promotes energy efficiency, modernisation, innovation and digitalisation and maintains Germany's international competitiveness. This requires a comprehensive strategy and transformation.
Innovative technologies such as hydrogen, carbon management, photovoltaics and geothermal energy play a central role in the energy transition. A sustainable transport transition, which offers an industrial policy opportunity for Germany as an automotive location, can only be achieved through the use of alternative drive systems such as electric mobility with batteries, fuel cells or alternative fuels.
In addition to the use of renewable technologies and drive systems, increasing energy efficiency and establishing sustainable production processes in industry and the utilities sector are essential for achieving national climate targets. This is the only way to reduce energy consumption in the long term and thus ensure the resilience and competitiveness of the German economy.
